NOKIAN FOOTWEAR 125 YEARS OF NORDIC CONDITIONS

Crafsmanship and unique design since 1898

Nokian Footwear rubber boots bring together more than 120 years of craftmanship and unique Finnish design.

The company’s history goes back to 1898 when it began to manufacture high-quality waterproof rubber footwear for harsh Nordic conditions. To this day, our purpose remains unchanged. In addition, we want to promote the enjoyment of the great outdoors and its positive impact on the body and mind.

Design from Finland

We are proud of our Design from Finland label, granted to us by the Association for Finnish Work in recognition of unique Finnish product design.

The criteria for awarding the label also include transparency and responsibility throughout the production chain. Our high-quality products are an ecologically sustainable choice that also promote Finnish work.

MADE WITH TRADITIONAL METHODS

Made of natural rubber, our boots are always crafted by hand. High-quality boots are soft and comfortable to wear. Known for their good fit, Nokian Footwear rubber boots can be worn all day without feet getting tired.

Finnish design, durable rubber mixtures and highquality materials guarantee that every single boot meets the strictest quality criteria.

SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION

Responsible operations are an integral part of day-to-day work at Nokian Footwear. We are committed to developing and promoting responsible practices in all our operations.

The majority of our boots are manufactured in Europe. Our European contract manufacturer is EN ISO 9001 quality management certified and 14001 environmental management certified. In the Far East, where some of our products are made, all our contract manufacturers have valid Amfori BCSI certificates.

We aim to promote sustainable practices among our subcontractors. All our contract manufacturers have undertaken to adhere to Berner’s Code of Conduct and to develop their operations in an ethically sustainable manner.

They are also obliged to comply with the applicable local and international legislation pertaining to issues including the employees’ status, occupational safety, equality, non-discrimination, privacy, bribery and corruption, competition, environmental protection and product safety.

We require our new suppliers based in high-risk countries to have a valid Amfori BSCI certificate or to comply with the requirements of the SA8000 certificate or other Global Social Compliance Programme (GSCP). To pass an audit, all our suppliers must have the capacity to develop their operations. We also make regular visits to the factories we use.
